I am involved in this project because:
I am involved in this project because it brings together partners who will both share knowledge with the teens and gain knowledge from the teens about the things that get them excited about parks, the outdoors, and nature. The Danville Public Library can help the community celebrate their creative projects by hosting a premiere of their public service announcements – and give them a sneak preview of Ken Burns’ series on National Parks – as well as making their projects available for others to check out from the library and be inspired to make their own movies. I also hope that the teens will mentor other interested teen filmmakers at the library through workshops and help us develop a collection of videos produced by area teens.
My best experience at Kickapoo so far is:
The daring paddleboat rescue that the teens experienced at the kickoff dinner held at Kickapoo Landing on April 13. What a great way to begin: An adventure to film and to write about on their very first outing!
