About the Youth Media Workshop
Kickin' It at Kickapoo is a project of The Youth Media Workshop, a service of Illinois Public Media in collaboration with William Patterson, associate director of the African American Cultural Center at the U of I. The Youth Media Workshop collaborates with public schools and community organizations in central Illinois to teach African-American youth how to make media that reflects their genuine experiences and connects them to older generations of African-Americans. Kickin' It at Kickapoo is the Workshop's first nature-based project.
